About The Contest
The first ever Olympiad of Misguided Geeks contest at Worse Than Failure (or OMGWTF for short) is a new kind of programming contest. Readers are invited to be creative with devising a calculator with the craziest code they can write. One lucky and potentially insane winner will get either a brand new MacBook Pro or comparable Sony VAIO laptop.
Entry #100286: The OMG-WTF-ulator
What makes my calculator special? Well, mostly that I suffered all the pains of Visual Studio and Windows programming to write it, but it’s got a lot else going for it too:
It uses the most completely useless interpolating formula in the whole of mathematics, and STILL manages to get the answers right. (Incidentally I chose the Lagrange formula because It lost me 25% of the marks on my numerical analysis paper last year :[ )
If you type in numbers long enough you make it say silly things, well mostly rude things, since four letter words are so much easier to stumble upon, try 26020, or for the devious 34463.
Perhaps the best thing about it is that, if the test cases had been a few characters shorter, then I would have had to do about one hundredth as much work (everything would have fitted nicely inside a floating point type). Instead: I suffered.
Yeah, that's it; maybe it doesn't have so much going for it.
